This Day in History: Marx Publishes Manifesto

funny pictures history - This Day in History: Marx Publishes Manifesto

On February 21, 1848, The Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx with the assistance of Friedrich Engels, is published in London by a group of German-born revolutionary socialists known as the Communist League.

The political pamphlet–arguably the most influential in history–proclaimed that “the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles” and that the inevitable victory of the proletariat, or working class, would put an end to class society forever.

” would put an end to class society forever.”

Except for that “working class and ruling class,” it ended the class society.

And how’s that working out for ya, Karl?

fascinating ideas….too bad they worked out so terribly in the real world…then again capitalism has sort of failed too…stupid humans and their economic systems…i don’t want to live on this planet anymore

  4. Fred says:

Yet another example of how European Stupidity has ruined the planet.

Oh really? So according to you, communism is the root of our current problems in both West and East? If that’s the case, would you care to explain why the non-communist nations seemed to fare better when there still was an Eastern/communist Bloc? Or perhaps explain how Cuba, North Korea and China (the only nations still under communist rule) are now ruining the planet (btw: none of these nations is european)? Forgive me for putting it in a rather blunt way, but your train of thought is obviously a runaway about to derail. And as far as “European Stupidity” which “has ruined the planet” is concerned: Don’t you think that it’s too simplistic too equate Germans with all the other Europeans? Especially with those Europeans that have no colonial past?

you can blame the Rothschilds for all the troubles in the world… the elite bankers want to own it all… and they want the rest of us as their slaves…

Strangely enough, I’ve just finished reading that.

  7. Jakopf says:

As a German, I apologize for our stupid ideas. We should better go back to the ancient Greeks ^^

  8. OlderAndWiser says:

Any system that ignores human nature is bound to fail.

Do you want to work extra hard so I can sit on my sofa watching Maria Maria?

No? Then dump Marx and try something more intelligent.

  9. Most influential political pamphlet in history? If one considers ‘influential’ to mean ‘disaster provoking’.

The whole economic structure of Communism has been thoroughly refuted in the laboratory of human experience. It works perfectly if one is an ant or bee. For humans, it just does not work at all. Whether in Europe or anywhere else.

Capitalism has drawbacks and can be abused. But it’s still far ahead of any other economic system devised by mankind.

All the Rothschild’s fault? Get with the times, it’s Saucer people who are the problem now.

Outrageous post. Why this has nothing to do with American history at all.
