“Lest” means “in case”. So the female dogs don’t want him because he might have a bone. Did you actually mean “unless”?
Unlike users of this site, bluesmen have never been known for their adherence to proper grammar. “Lest” is a slang word meaning “unless” that I often heard while growing up in Mississippi.
