Along with the millions who died to make sure he did… they really earned some medals… mostly a bullet or two…
There’s a lot of debate about just how good a general Zhukov was. He achieved a lot, but with heavy losses, and it can be asked how much of the losses were his fault (some of the worst examples appear to be the result of subordinates blatantly disobeying his orders). Lavrentiy Beria hated his guts, which at least shows he had good taste in enemies…
The Soviets sure could crank out the little bits of silk and silver.
